Hello there. I’m Andrew Haffner, a journalist based in Chicago. More specifically, I’m an award-winning reporter and editor with a background in longform feature writing and investigations.
I’m recently back in the U.S. after five years of living and working as a journalist in Cambodia, where I covered both that country and the wider ASEAN bloc. In that time, I served as the managing editor and later the editor-in-chief of a regional publication, the Southeast Asia Globe, an author-driven digital magazine that specialized in narrative feature reporting. We also published essays submitted by a contributor network of academic researchers and subject experts.
These experiences were the foundation of my time in Cambodia, though I also maintained a steady freelance practice there and worked as an editorial consultant with local news organizations. Having served in a wide variety of newsrooms, most of which were international and cross-cultural in both their staffing and audience, I believe I’ve come away with an editing style that is based in clear, concise communication, paired with a genuine love for working as part of a team.
I’m always on the hunt for new projects and can be reached at a.haffner92@gmail.com.
